I learned the media industry working as a writer, producer, and director for NBC
TV & Radio networks in New York and as a member of The Director's Guild of
America. I met my wife of 30 years, Nancy, while covering the 1967 Olympics in
Montreal for NBC Sports and soon moved to San Francisco where I worked for CNN
as a Correspondent.
My life changed dramatically later when I became a publicist for the genius who
marketed a product named "TriplEdge Windshield Wipers" to $600 million in sales.
He was my mentor in direct response media marketing and I learned his
multi-media blueprint and used it to take one of my own clients, Jeff Wycoff, to
$200 million sales using media joint ventures.

A direct response marketing
system is any advertising or marketing program that requires the reader,
listener or viewer to respond or take action. A TV infomercial is an excellent
example of a direct response marketing system. When you watch the program it
continually directs you to call an 800 number to order. That is also called two
step advertising-- Watching or reading the ad is
step one and calling the number or filling out a lead form on the internet would
be step two.
All your advertising or
marketing efforts should be two step advertising. Everything you do should be
about capturing a lead and motivating people to take action so you can make a
sale. You want your advertising to walk prospects through a series of steps
until the natural conclusion is to buy your product or get involved
in your opportunity.
